Our Story

Annabelle's is an independent catering company based in the beautiful Southside of Edinburgh. It was started up as a restaurant in 1993 by the original owner - Annabelle Broadhurst - hence the name! Nicola and Karine bought the business in 2008 with Alison joining the team in early 2015. Over the years, the outside catering became bigger and bigger and in 2016 we made the difficult decision to close the restaurant and concentrate purely on this. Annabelle's is a small, dedicated team who have worked together for many years to create delicious, fresh food and seamless events.

Nicola Malley (Nee Maciver)

Having worked at Annabelle’s in 2002-2004 Nicola was the obvious choice for Annabelle to contact when she was selling up. Since starting in 2008 it has become clear that Nicola enjoys talking to people over many cups of tea and excels at organising wonderful events with delicious food at the heart of them. Possessing an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things wedding related Nicola will happily spend lots of time creating individually tailored events, discussing different suppliers and helping with any aspect she can to create the perfect day. She has been found before in the sheds of Kirknewton Stables crafting last minute buttonholes, fixing wedding dresses with fishing wire and sorting many other culinary and non-culinary emergencies!

Alison Babington Smith

Alison started with us in 2012 fresh out of the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School. Her eye for detail and understanding of flavours meant that she became a huge asset to the team. Alison loves creating seasonally focused menus with our clients for any event. Alison’s role has expanded over the years to take on ever more responsibilities and we were delighted when she became a partner in the business early in 2015.

Ian Simpson

Ian has worked with Nicola since 2006. After completing his Chef training in Canada, Ian moved back to Edinburgh and has been an integral part of our team ever since! Ian hasĀ a huge knowledge of pretty much everything (especially Doctor Who) and recently won 15 to 1. Our very own mastermind.

Karine MacIver

Karine is the chief baker at Annabelle’s, and has been involved in the business since 2008. She is always on hand to collect anything we need or step in last minute. Karine would like to retire and escape to Spain with a nice glass of wine, but we won’t let her just yet!

(Wee) Jeanie Watson

Jeanie has been part of Annabelle’s for a very long time. Her depth of knowledge was invaluable when we took over the business and our customers were delighted that she remained part of the team. Jeanie holds the key to the delicious tiffin that we serve – whilst we have tried, none of us can match her tiffin making abilities!

Sarah Jacobs

Although she is hidden away, we couldn’t leave out our wonderful book-keeper Sarah. Sarah keeps things ticking along and the wheels turning behind the scenes.
